Dickie Anderson
impersonating Emma Goddard

Dickie Anderson offers Emma Goddard, a feisty widow, visiting the very fashionable Amelia Island in 1882. She arrives by the Mallory Steamship Line and stays at the Egmont hotel. Through her stories audiences are given a glimpse of the life of a proper victorian lady visiting the "Newport of the South."

Dickie Anderson is a trained docent at the Amelia Island Museum of History and writes articles about the history of the island for regional publications.

A variety of programs and workshops can be designed for individual groups. Anderson has presented at the Amelia island Book Festival, teaches individualized "Telling Your Story" workshops, taught a "Beyond Bingo" class to a Council on Aging Group and offers writing workshops to groups and organizations.

Dickie Anderson has twice been recognized by Florida Writer's Association and their Golden Palm Award, three times been a featured author at the Amelia Island Book Festival and recognized as Humor Writer of the Month by Erma Bombeck Writer's Workshop.

Telling Your Story:
Everyone has stories to share. We have lost the art of letter writing. In years past everyone wrote letters - wonderful letters full of intimate details for their daily lives. Letters shared the passion of two lovers separated by war, experiences of families divided by fate, the adventures of explorers in distant lands or something as simple as what happened to a youngster away at camp for the first time.

Why Tell Your Story:
No matter the audience or group I always encourage people to tell their stories. Often I come in contact with people who clearly have a story they want to tell, but do not know where to start. Dickie's workshops are start. Like learning to ride a bicycle or how to swim you have to take that first leap of faith and go for it. And like bicycling or swimming you will get better and better with practice.

There is no right way or wrong way to put down your story. You first need to get it down and then it can be polished. The polishing can be learned but getting it down is up to you.

about her writing workshops.

Remember:
The story can't be taught
Techniques can
Good writing is simply telling the truth
Tell it like it is

I look forward seeing you in one of my workshops.
